Neoclassical Architecture!

Neoclassical architecture is an architectural style. It was produced by the neoclassical movement that began in the 18th century! Neoclassical architecture emphasizes the wall rather than chiaroscuro, or art is characterized by strong contrasts between light and dark. Neoclassicism was a desire to return to the “purity” of the arts of Rome. Neoclassicism was an international movement. Neoclassiciscal architecture revived interest in classical ideas and forms that influenced European and American society. It did this through thought, politics and fine arts during the 18th and 19th century. This term refers to the art forms created after but inspired by ancient time.

The Neoclassical period came about as a response to the birth of a new nation. In 1783, the American Revolution ended and the construction of a new nation begins. The Founding Fathers, especially Thomas Jefferson looked towards inspiration that would help the nation.
